Pupils are part of a community where the visual and performing arts are vibrant and diverse and where everyone has the chance to participate and have fun.
As the stunning work on display around the school shows, our modern, well-equipped studios provide opportunities to work in a range of media including fine art, photography, ceramics and textiles. Pupils are given every chance to discover and express their own interpretations of the world around them. Two light and bright studios are equipped with a dark room and IT suite for photography, a kiln for ceramics, and ample space to work in. Our Sixth Formers benefit from their own art studio, giving them their own space which they can make their own and work in throughout the week.
Our busy music department encourages pupils to develop an appreciation of and confidence in all musical genres. The wide ranging programme of musical activities, in school and beyond, enables everyone to participate whether this is as part of the Chamber Choir, orchestra, rock concerts or musical theatre performances. Specialist music teachers provide instrumental and vocal tuition and there will be plenty of opportunities to take music exams and compete in festivals.
Drama at Stonar is inspirational and ambitious. Many pupils will take part in productions and public events, performing to a variety of audiences. A specialist drama teacher will coach those who are keen to take Speech and Drama qualifications. Drama is taught in a way that develops pupils' confidence to perform and their creativity to entertain, move and challenge audiences. A Senior School production takes place every year and all pupils have the opportunity to get involved, whether acting or on the technical side. Pupils can also participate in more informal drama opportunities, through our inter-house drama competition.
