Flying Club

British Young Pilots

The Stonar Flying Club was created to give Stonar pupils a unique opportunity to explore the world of aviation through structured ground school lessons and flight training. Pupils gain hands-on experience in real aircraft, supported by qualified British Young Pilot instructors, with the chance to work towards completing their civilian Pilots License (PPL) if they choose.

A termly programme offering a unique opportunity to explore aviation, developing critical thinking, and gain hands-on experience in an exciting, real-world field.

Weekly lessons, in small groups, taught by British Young Pilots instructors. Each pupil will complete the BYP Wings Syllabus, which includes lessons in: Principle of flight; General Handling; Take-off and landing; Aerodynamics and forces on the aircraft; Parts of an aircraft; Weather patterns and Navigation.

There has been such a keen interest from pupils; with many of those who have signed up doing so because they would like to pursue careers in aviation-related fields.
