Year 9

Year 9 is all about ownership and leadership of self and others. Pupils are nurtured and assisted through a leadership programme to take control of the initial stage of the journey towards success in their GCSE exams.

The Stonar 9

In the Summer Term of Year 8, pupils and their families are supported in their first decisions on the path to the GCSE options.

The core subjects of English, Maths, Science, Humanities and PE & Games continue to be offered in Year 9, but pupils benefit from a more focussed approach to their studies.

Leadership of self and others."

At this point, pupils will study four selected subjects from the following optional subjects:

  • Design Technology

  • Food
  • French
  • Music
  • Spanish

With the exception of foreign languages, pupils will still be able to study a subject at GCSE if they have not studied it at Year 9.
