Two prep school pupils. One is a girl and one is a boy. They are both lying down on their stomachs, looking at a reading book together. The girl is looking at the camera laughing and the boy is looking at the girl laughing.

Pastoral Care

Experienced staff and small class sizes equal strong pastoral care in a secure and nurturing environment. There is an embedded culture of kindness and mutual respect between peers, pupils and teachers alike.

At Stonar, pupils learn and grow within a nurturing environment that encourages them to care for one another, their school and the wider world. We set high expectations for behaviour both inside and outside the classroom, guided by the Prep School’s nine ‘Personal Goals’, which include qualities such as thoughtfulness, cooperation, morality, respect and resilience.

A culture of kindness, care and mutual respect runs throughout the school. These values are continually reinforced and embedded into classroom learning, activities and daily interactions.

Form Tutors build close and supportive relationships with pupils, helping to ensure their pastoral well-being. This is further strengthened by our highly experienced teams across both the Prep and Senior Schools, who work together to support each child’s development.
