Nursery Curriculum

Every Monday and Friday, our Early Years children enjoy swimming sessions led by our specialist PE teachers. Lessons take place in small groups, allowing each child to feel supported, safe, and confident in the water. Through gentle guidance and playful activities, children begin to develop early swimming skills while having fun and building independence.

On Mondays and Fridays, children enjoy lively Spanish sessions led by our Senior School language teachers through songs, play, and simple activities, they are introduced to colours, numbers, and everyday vocabulary. These early experiences help build confidence, curiosity, and a love of language from the very start.

Our children enjoy a visit to our onsite Equestrian Centre to pat a pony every other week! This gentle, hands-on experience introduces children to the basics of caring for ponies in a safe, nurturing environment. With guidance from experienced staff, the children learn how to look after the ponies, develop confidence around animals, and practise brushing their soft fur. It’s a wonderful way to encourage empathy, responsibility, and a love of nature.

Sessions are carefully planned to be inclusive, engaging, and tailored to the age and abilities of each child. Whether it is acting out a favourite tale, inventing their own characters, or using movement and expression to tell a story without words, our young learners are encouraged to explore, experiment, and enjoy the magic of drama.

Children take part in our much-loved outdoor adventure sessions. We enjoy a short walk to our woodland area, where the children have the opportunity to explore, discover and learn in a natural environment.

During our adventure sessions, children can climb small trees and stumps, developing their confidence, coordination and problem-solving skills. Here there is a sense of freedom within safe parameters. We often get creative; one of our favourite activities is making forest friends using mud, clay and natural materials found in the woods.

Our children love being active! Each week, they enjoy sessions in our Sports Hall or out on the field, where they develop essential ball skills such as throwing, kicking, and catching. Sports gives children the chance to have fun, build confidence, and learn new skills.

Through hands-on exploration of instruments such as drums and shakers, children discover how different sounds are created and experiment freely with making their own music. Activities that involve recognising and following simple tunes help to build focus, auditory memory, and early musical awareness. Singing remains a joyful and integral part of our day, supporting children’s language development, confidence, and sense of belonging. Music also becomes a powerful storytelling tool, enabling children to interpret narratives, express emotions and bring stories to life through sound and movement.
