Nursery

Stonar's Nursery is place where joy paves the path to achievement. Welcoming children 2 to 4 years old, our exceptional teachers understand the needs of the youngest pupils, gently and carefully guiding them to build their knowledge and skills as they learn through a play based curriculum.

The beginning of your child’s school journey at Stonar will open up a world of wonder and inspiration in which they will begin to develop as a confident and eager learner. Pupils are free to be themselves and are treated with kindness and respect. Children enjoy structured and unstructured time, allowing them to gain new knowledge, make great friends and discover who they are - all while achieving little successes along the way!

We chose Stonar because, when we visited, we had the most wonderful feeling about the school. The staff were warm and welcoming and we knew our boys would be nurtured and cared for. We have not been disappointed! In my opinion, the Stonar's Nursery is unrivalled - the setting is absolutely first-class and the staff are incredible."

Nursery Curriculum

At Stonar Nursery, we implement 'In The Moment Planning', for our youngest children, which has a strong commitment to being child centred. The adult's role is to observe children in a variety of situations, assessing what their play and interactions mean and recognising potential openings for further learning. 'In The Moment Planning' is not a new concept, it is what parents do every day with their child, responding to their interests and capturing these teachable moments whilst they are 'in the moment'.

Alongside our our responsive curriculum, we plan for the learning and development of 'key skills'. These are focused sessions for our Pre-School children, ensuring our children are well prepared to continue their learning as they move through into Reception class.

The Nursery and Reception class work alongside each other throughout the year, which makes for a seamless transition for our children. Our children have the opportunity to spend lots of time outdoors, accessing both the Early Years outdoor provision and the wider School grounds.

Stonar is such a wonderful school and has been such a superb place for our son. He has greatly grown in confidence and his learning has really developed since joining the Nursery. Thank you for all the care and attention shown to him since joining in September. It truly has been a wonderful start to his education. We couldn't have wished for better."
