Academic

At Stonar, pupils can follow their passions, influencing the way we teach and the emphasis we place on sports, arts and being creative. This creativity flows through all subjects, making them contextual and interesting, so that pupils enjoy learning and desire to work hard.

Enquiry Curriculum

Our Primary Curriculum takes a thematic, topic-based approach, with each class following an enquiry question for a term. We start by gathering what children already know and then craft lessons around their pooled knowledge. It is an easy and fun way to ensure children gain knowledge in a purposeful way and because our class sizes are small, we really can personalise the lessons and each child’s learning journey.

Forest School

Stonar has a trained Forest School leader delivering lessons outdoors in our Forest School and wider 90-acre grounds. Children learn timeless, traditional skills, such as den building, campfires and whittling, as well as how to communicate and collaborate on projects and tasks. Pre-prep pupils attend once a week, while Prep pupils enjoy a block of Forest School each year.
