A long line of Short Courses pupils walking outside Hart House, the converted cottage boarding house
Accommodation and Pastoral Care

Accommodation

Stonar’s boarding houses offer a homely and sociable environment in which young people can feel safe and comfortable. All houses are within a short walk of the Equestrian Centre, dining hall and sports facilities giving children freedom, the opportunity to live in a community and to learn independence.

All houses have a kitchen and common room, which give the children the space to socialise and make friends. Most of the rooms in the houses are single or twin,
with a small number of shared dormitories for younger boarders. Boys and girls are accommodated separately in each house.

Evening social activities examples:

Icebreaker evening

Sports
including badminton, tennis and swimming

Arts and Crafts

Film Night

Scavenger Hunt and Bonfire

Games night

Pastoral Care

Our primary concern is the health, safety and wellbeing of your child during their stay. All our staff have been selected because of their experience and understanding of young people and will take the time to get to know
each student as an individual. Our beautiful site offers space with an abundance of fresh, country air.

A medic offers qualified medical care for minor health issues and accidents and we have access to a local health centre and hospital, if required.

Healthy Eating

Our Stonar catering team prides itself on producing fresh and healthy meals everyday, with a choice of hot and cold meals, including a salad bar and fresh fruit. We can provide for most dietary requirements. All meals are served in the dining room.

The food was delicious, all the equipment really good and the school environment great."

Safeguarding

Stonar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we aim to create a culture of vigilance. We believe that all members of the Stonar community have a collective responsibility for safeguarding of the individuals in our care and the Safeguarding Team work closely with the Pastoral Committee to empower all staff to share concerns and identify children who might benefit from early help and intervention.

Safeguarding children is at the very heart of everything we do at Stonar and we take all forms of abuse seriously. We actively listen to children in our care and have staff who are not only trained to manage reports of abuse but are skilled in listening and supporting children. Stonar prides itself on having a community built on kindness and integrity where pupils are heard and supported and we expect everyone to behave with respect for others.
