Expert Coaching
Equestrian Staff
A coaching system underpinned by strong fundamental techniques provides mentoring for young riders and individual development plans for more advanced riders, enhanced with regular clinics delivered by specialists. There are regular opportunities to compete both at school and externally. School teams are frequently successful at NSEA and British Show Jumping competitions and Stonar's own Inter-Schools One Day Event Championships. Our Junior team were the recent winners of the Hickstead 60th National Schools Jumping Championships!
Director of Riding
Ellie Halsey is the school's Director of Riding. Ellie has a huge amount of experience and a deep understanding of equestrian sport, as well as what makes Stonar special. Ellie is a Performance Coach BHSI with over 25 years’ coaching experience at all levels. In her spare time, Ellie competes her own horse in dressage at Prix St Georges and Inter 1 level having taken him from Preliminary level right the way through, as well as producing him to BE Novice level eventing. In addition she has competed at BD Area Festivals and Regional Championships at multiple levels.
Ellie's experienced team delivers the highest quality teaching. Their philosophy is that whatever level a rider wishes to attain, first they must gain a thorough grounding, a correct position and a correctly trained, happy horse.
We desire to ensure that every rider will become the very best they can be. We believe in developing all aspects of horsemanship so that both hobbyist and aspirational rider will be fully prepared for a lifetime’s love and involvement with horses.

I have been incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to be coached by the Stonar Equestrian team. Thank you for all being so patient with me, through all the ups and downs. My memories of Stonar and the yard, I will cherish for a very long time."
