Livery & Loan

Pupils looking for a more immersive equestrian experience can choose from several livery or loan options.

Livery

Livery Types:
Full, Exclusive & Working
Pupils from Year 7 upwards can bring their pony or horse to school. Stonar believes in ensuring that they learn to take responsibility for their steed, with our expert team on hand to guide, as they learn essential stable management skills. Pupils come to the yard before breakfast and return after school each day to take care of their pony or horse.

Due to high levels of demand, we recommend that enquiries regarding livery are made early in the Admissions process in order to determine if a suitable stable is available. Payment of the livery deposit is required in order to secure the stable. We cannot accept stallions for livery.

Loan

It is also possible for riders staying at Stonar to loan one of Stonar’s horses or ponies. The pupil is then responsible for the complete care, including feeding and mucking out morning and evenings. These tasks will be supervised as necessary. The pupil can ride the horse daily (excluding one day of rest) and compete in the  Stonar Accumulator competitions. They may also be able to compete in external competitions at West Wilts Equestrian Centre.

The horse/pony will be provided with tack and equipment. Shoeing, vaccinations, vet’s fee and worming costs will be covered by Stonar.

A waiting list operates and to ensure a horse or pony is available, applying early is advisable. Permanent and 1 year applicants will be prioritised. If there is availability, then pupils staying for two terms may be able to loan a horse.

Half Term Holidays

We are able to offer full livery during the half term holidays, so horses can stay settled at School during the short break.

During the half-term break, your child’s horse can stay at Stonar on full livery.

This will include:

  • The horse being exercised once per week by one of our experienced coaches
  • Two bales of bedding per week
  • Standard feed and full livery

Your child will be able to come and ride their horse during the holiday but they must attend at an agreed time and be accompanied by an adult under whose supervision they will remain throughout.

Please note that livery at Stonar over the half term holiday is subject to limited availability and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

We are not able of offer holiday livery for Christmas, Easter and Summer Holidays. However, please see below details of local yards that our pupils use:
