We hold weekly Accumulator competitions for the Senior School. These alternate between dressage and show jumping, both great avenues for newcomers to learn about the experience, or for more advanced riders to practise their test/course riding and ringcraft. Points are awarded for placings and count towards an end of year cup in each discipline. Accumulator competitions are open to all riders of appropriate ability, and pupils without their own horse may request a school horse, subject to availability.
Inter House show jumping competitions are held each term. Riders can support their Houses by competing to earn House points.
We are fortunate to have this fantastic competition centre only a 15-minute drive from Stonar. Riders with their own horse on livery, or a Stonar loan horse, can join these trips, based on a competence assessment in both their riding lessons and in the Accumulator competitions.
A member of the coaching team accompanies the horses and pupils to support them with warming up and course walking, as well as debriefing after the competition.
Members of the Stonar Riding Academy have opportunities for a more dynamic competition experience with the following events:
Stonar teams attend various NSEA qualifiers throughout the school year, with our main goal being qualification for the NSEA National Championships.
The NSEA offers a range of prestigious inter-school equestrian competitions throughout the country, from local events to annual National Championships. Disciplines include Dressage, Show Jumping, Arena Eventing (‘Jumping with Style’), One Day Events, Eventer’s Challenge and Grass Roots competitions.
NSEA Grass Roots Prep team
The Prep School have their own Grassroots team for pupils who have their own ponies, who compete at NSEA competitions. The Grassroots team is parent led, with the support of the Equestrian Centre. Once riders have outgrown the Grassroots team they can progress to join the Stonar Academy.

Through membership of British Showjumping’s ‘Just for Schools’ (JFS) membership our Academy members have the opportunity to compete at show centres of a high standard, offering professionally built courses ranging from 60cm - 1.10m.
