Boarding Pastoral Care
Whilst boarding provides the perfect opportunity for your child to start gaining independence, Stonar recognises the need for strong pastoral care to help guide and support them on this journey. We aim to create a nurturing atmosphere where boarding children become confident individuals who are safe in the knowledge that staff - both pastoral and teaching - are always there for them, like family.
Each House has a dedicated Houseparent who lives on-site, alongside the boarders. Houseparents have overall responsibility for their boarders' pastoral wellbeing, as well as working closely with each child's tutor to monitor their academic progress. Houseparents allocate designated time for Prep work in the evenings and on Saturday mornings, as well as organising activities for boarders outside of learning time.
Even though children are encouraged to fully immerse themselves in boarding life, communication with parents and family is essential. House staff are available through email and dedicated ‘phones, providing parents with regular updates of their child's education and wellbeing.
The Houseparents are supported by a team including tutors, assistant Houseparents and Graduate Resident Assistants. To find out more about the different teams, read our separate House pages.
Our houseparents are loving people who will want to help you anytime you have a problem. Even if they do not know the answer to the problem immediately, they will give you a positive answer and will keep to their word."
