Ganbrook has an enviable location on the upper floors of the main manor house. This was once the home of the Dowager Lady Fuller and has high ceilings and large airy rooms. The boarders only have to go downstairs to be in the main school building and are the closest to breakfast!
The common room has stunning views over the Stonar lawns and countryside beyond. The house is full of interesting nooks and crannies to explore. Ganbrook is a girls’ only house for those in Years 5 to 11. There are 17 bedrooms of various sizes.
Ganbrook’s houseparent is Mrs Tina Tilley, who lives with her husband, her young son and daughter and two dogs in private accommodation within Ganbrook. She has an open door policy which means boarders can pop in for a chat or to discuss any problems or concerns they may have. Emma Davies is relief houseparent, working two evenings a week and some weekends. Two resident assistants help with the day-to-day routines in the house.
The Ganbrook atmosphere is happy and relaxed, with all boarders contributing to the family feel to the house.
Saturday night takeaways are very popular: everyone gathers together to watch a film or TV in the common room while enjoying their chosen food. Ganbrook pupils really support their house and are encouraged to contribute towards the friendly, sociable atmosphere.
