Food and Menus
The superb catering team feeds pupils extremely well at Stonar. The food served in La Cantina is a key factor to a successful day, and the variety of meals is as fresh as the ingredients.
Stonar’s dining hall was rebranded into La Cantina in 2020 and pupils enjoy both refuelling and socialising here. Everything is freshly prepared and cooked, with a large friendly catering team on hand to ensure everyone has what they need. They are experts at devising, sourcing and cooking healthy and fun meals that are popular throughout the entire School.
The Catering Team is directed by the Executive Chef Manager, Txema Garcia. A firm believer in enjoying and recognising quality food, he has gradually exposed the school to different ingredients and cooking styles, producing colourful and tasty meals for all ages. Retaining classics such as roast dinners and catch of the day, Mr Garcia perfectly combines such familiar and popular British meals with contrasting food from all over the world. Ingredients are sourced locally and regionally, but always sustainably.
A vegetarian option is always available, which is just as creative and delicious as the main meal of the day. A variety of sides and salad supplement the main meal, as well as fresh fruit and yoghurt for a healthy snack. Home-made hot puddings include firm favourites such as fruit crumbles and hot sponges. As well as hot options and generous portions, there is also a range of smaller meals and fresh warm salads.
Pupils are encouraged to try new foods, in a variety of new colours and flavours, which are presented engagingly and always remain tasty and nutritious. Meals leave pupils content and recharged, aiding the full day of school and activities.

In addition, seasonal menus offer a chance to reflect different celebrations around the world. For example, the boarders enjoyed a Chinese dinner menu to celebrate the start of Chinese New Year in 2021.
