Pupils come to Stonar from the local area and from around the world to learn within a vibrant school community. Academic life is at the heart of our school.
We foster curiosity and a love of learning, encouraging each pupil to think and question, and to persevere in pursuit of his or her goals. At the same time, pupils of all ages benefit from individual input and opportunities to develop the personal characteristics that will help them to flourish as they grow up and take their places in the adult world.
Initially established for girls, Stonar started accepting boys 10 years ago and the school will be fully co-educational for boarding and day pupils by September 2019. A relatively small school in beautiful grounds, Stonar combines excellent facilities with a warm and friendly atmosphere which underpins our pupils’ growth and success. Stonar is also part of the NACE group of schools and has close links with 28 sister schools in Europe and beyond, opening up international opportunities to our pupils.
At Stonar we set high standards; we expect everyone to aim for them and we support them in doing that. As a result we are repeatedly in the top 10% of schools for value-added at GCSE, meaning that pupils regularly obtain higher results than expected. Our pupils have many different interests and, for those who choose to ride, our high quality Equestrian Centre offers special opportunities to develop riding alongside academic studies.
I hope that you will enjoy reading the website which shows a little of the dedicated care and teaching, as well as the varied activities at Stonar, that contribute to each child’s development at school. We are always delighted to welcome visitors, so please come and see the school for yourself and discover more about our lively learning environment.
