Mr Izzard, Head of Boarding, reflects on an incredibly busy start of term for our boarders.

From the Head of Boarding

It has been an incredibly busy start of term for our boarders, but one filled with energy, laughter and a real sense of community.

From trips and sports fixtures to a packed programme of activities within the Houses, the first few weeks have already created some fantastic memories. We began with our traditional Boarders’ BBQ, followed by a shopping trip into Bath, giving pupils the chance to relax, catch up with friends and enjoy being back together.

The unpredictable British weather unfortunately put an end to our annual House Rounders competition, but the disappointment was quickly forgotten with a brilliant day at Longleat Safari last weekend. This weekend brings another exciting outing, with pupils heading to the Aqua Park near Bristol.

There is still plenty more to look forward to before half term, including trips to Thorpe Park and the Horse of the Year Show. With so much happening in such a short space of time, it really is shaping up to be a six weeks to remember.

One of the most pleasing aspects of the start of term has been seeing how quickly our newest boarders have settled into life at Stonar. The boarding team has been particularly impressed by the way they have embraced every opportunity, thrown themselves into House life and quickly become part of the wider boarding community.

There has been a real sense of positivity across the Houses, and it has been wonderful to see pupils supporting one another, forming new friendships and making the most of everything boarding has to offer. We are looking forward to many more memorable moments as the term continues.
