Training begins for Ten Tors 26
Pupils from Years 9-12 have demonstrated exceptional resilience and teamwork during two recent training weekends on Dartmoor as they prepare for the renowned Ten Tors Challenge.

Most recently, battling wet and windy conditions, the 45-mile team began their latest expedition with a demanding 10km navigation exercise in complete darkness on Friday night. Completing the route in just three hours, pupils showed impressive confidence and skill before taking on more than 30km of notoriously boggy Dartmoor terrain on Saturday. The conditions tested both physical endurance and mental strength, with plenty of mud along the way.

Sunday’s training shifted focus to technical navigation, with pupils honing vital skills such as pacing and taking accurate bearings. These exercises are crucial preparation for May’s self-sufficient final event, where teams must navigate independently across the moor.

Both the recent training weekends have helped to develop not only their navigation expertise but also their teamwork and leadership skills on some of the UK’s most challenging landscape.
With determination, grit and a strong sense of camaraderie on display throughout, Stonar’s teams are firmly focused on the goal ahead: Ten Tors 2026!
