TEACHER TUESDAY: Jules Dalgleish
Name, position at Stonar and when you joined
Miss Jules Dalgleish, Subject Lead in Mathematics
What are you looking forward to this summer term?
Well I have just started at Stonar so I am looking forward to getting to know the pupils I am teaching and my tutees... and sunshine!
Can you tell us a bit about yourself (e.g. where you grew up, why you wanted to be a teacher)
I grew up in the Borders of Scotland in a little town right in a beautiful valley. I went to Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh to study Mathematics before moving to England. I wanted to be a teacher right from when I was in school myself. I guess I saw the impact teachers had on my life and wanted to support young people as my teachers had me.
What do you like to do in your free time/ hobbies?
I love to travel and see other cultures around the world. Before I started at Stonar, I took some time from work and travelled to New Zealand where I saw a lot of the North Island. I sat on many beautiful beaches, visited caves with glow worms, swam in natural hot springs, went to delicious vineyards. I then went to Thailand where I visited lots of amazing temples both working temples and incredible old temples, I saw elephants swam in more beautiful waters and ate gorgeous food. I finished my travels in Singapore, which I found to be a welcoming city and many different cultures living in peaceful harmony.
If your life were a movie, what would it be?
It would be a period drama where I organised everyone's life around me - think 'Emma' by Jane Austen.
What pedagogical approaches do you use?
I like to make sure that every pupil has a fair voice in the classroom and an equal opportunity to learn.
What is a fun fact about you?
I worked as a nanny.
