Stonar Students Celebrate Outstanding A Level and BTEC Results
Stonar is celebrating a strong set of A Level and BTEC results today, with students achieving outstanding grades across a diverse range of academic, creative and specialist subjects.
A fantastic 60% of students achieved A*–B grades or equivalent, while 40% achieved A*–A grades or equivalent.
These strong results have enabled Stonar’s Sixth Form leavers to progress to a wide range of destinations, including several Russell Group institutions, such as UCL, King’s College London, Cardiff University, the University of Bath, the University of Exeter and the University of Southampton. Courses being pursued include Biomechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Psychology, Economics and Finance, Architecture, Sport and Exercise Science, Engineering and Management, and English, with students also heading to leading universities internationally.
There has been success across the breadth of the curriculum, with particularly strong performances in subjects including Geography, where all students achieved A/A* grades, as well as Spanish, Art and Fashion. Students also achieved an outstanding set of results in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), with all students achieving A* grades for the second year in a row.
There were also impressive results across Stonar’s specialist vocational pathways. Students studying Equine Management BTEC and Sport BTEC have achieved a range of strong results, including many Distinction and Starred Distinction grades.
The results demonstrate the breadth of opportunities available to Stonar students, with success achieved through both traditional A Level study and specialist vocational qualifications.
Headmaster Aaron J G King commented: “We are incredibly proud of our students and the results they have achieved this year. These grades are a reflection of their hard work, determination and commitment, alongside the dedication of our staff and the support of their families.
“It is particularly pleasing to see such a breadth of achievement across the Sixth Form. We have witnessed some outstanding A Level performances alongside top results from our specialist vocational programmes, demonstrating that there are many different pathways to success at Stonar.
"While today is rightly a time to celebrate the grades our students have achieved, we are equally proud of the young people they have become during their time with us and their contributions to the School. We wish every student the very best as they take their next exciting steps along the life journeys begun here at Stonar”
The overall results include a number of exceptional individual performances, with students achieving impressive combinations of top results including multiple A* grades.
From our students:
Bonnie D, Stonar’s Head Pupil for 2025/26, is delighted with her results in History (A), Maths (A*), Physics (A) and her EPQ (A*), having been at Stonar from Nursery through to Sixth Form. She said: “I am so excited to have achieved these grades! I am so thankful to Stonar for everything they’ve done for me and for making me who I am today. I’m grateful for all the amazing experiences and achievements I’ve had along the way. Thank you to all the teachers for always being there for me and supporting me. I love Stonar and I will miss it so much! I am very much looking forward to heading to the University of Exeter in September to study Engineering and Business Management.”
Manon D is celebrating her results of A*A*A in Geography, French and Spanish, and is looking forward to making the most of her language skills before beginning university. She said: “I am really happy with my grades, which reflect the hard work I have put in, as well as the support and dedication of my teachers. In September, I will be heading to South America to put my Spanish into practice, before travelling to the Alps in France to continue improving my French. After that, I will be moving to Madrid to study Law at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). I’m really looking forward to this exciting next chapter.”
Molly S combined an English A Level and a Cambridge Diploma in Fashion & Textile Design, achieving D*D* (equivalent to A*A* at A Level) , plus an A* in her EPQ, while also playing rugby for England. She said: “My results came as a real shock, and I’m so incredibly happy with how everything turned out! None of this would have been possible without the support and encouragement I received from Stonar, and the way they always helped me to work around my intense sports schedule. I’m so grateful to everyone who helped me along the way. I’m planning to take a gap year before diving into the world of Media, with a particular interest in marketing and brand content creation.”
Lucia W is amongst the first pupils at Stonar to complete A Level Economics, following the introduction of the subject to the Sixth Form curriculum in 2024. As part of the first cohort to study the subject at Stonar, her achievement marks an exciting milestone for the School. Lucia will now go on to study Economics at Cardiff University. She said: “I am so thankful to Stonar for all the opportunities they have given me. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve these results without the belief and encouragement of Stonar’s teachers. I’m excited to embark on my next chapter at Cardiff University, studying Economics.”
