Senior School Trip to CERN Inspires Scientific Curiosity
Over the half-term break, a group of our Senior School pupils embarked on a trip to Geneva, Switzerland. The trip offered a unique blend of science, culture and stunning scenery, giving pupils the chance to broaden their horizons beyond the classroom.

After arriving in Geneva, the group began by taking the cable car up Mont Salève, where they enjoyed panoramic views across Lake Geneva and the Alps - a spectacular introduction to the region.
The highlight for many was a full day spent at CERN, the world-renowned European Organization for Nuclear Research.
Pupils learned about the groundbreaking work behind the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and gained a deeper understanding of particle physics and cutting-edge scientific discovery.

The group also visited the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, where interactive exhibits encouraged reflection on global humanitarian issues and the power of compassion in times of crisis. Finally, they explored the History of Science Museum, discovering scientific instruments and innovations that have shaped the modern world.
To end the trip in true Geneva style, pupils enjoyed a peaceful boat ride across Lake Geneva, taking in the city’s iconic waterside views.

The trip was not only academically enriching, but a chance to experience new cultures and spark curiosity about the world and our place in it.
