Malvern Hills Nightfall Challenge

On Saturday afternoon, a group of 21 adventurous pupils from Year 9, 10 and 11 took part in the Malvern Hills Nightfall Challenge, completing a demanding 18km route with over 1,200 metres of ascent in the stunning Malvern Hills.

Setting off in the late afternoon, pupils walked across the ridge as daylight gradually faded, navigating between checkpoints and tackling steep climbs and descents along the way. Fortunately, clear skies and bright moonlight meant that head torches were not required all the time, allowing pupils to enjoy the unique experience of travelling through the hills under natural light.

The challenge formed part of Stonar's wider Adventure Programme and provided an excellent opportunity for pupils to develop their navigation skills, teamwork, resilience and independence.

Despite the physical demands of the walk, spirits remained high, with pupils demonstrating determination, good humour and impressive perseverance. The combination of challenging terrain, spectacular views and a memorable moonlit finish made for an unforgettable adventure.

The Nightfall Challenge was a fantastic success and a fitting showcase of the adventurous spirit that continues to thrive at Stonar.
