Stonar Riders Success in NSEA Eventing Championship

Stonar Riders Success in NSEA Eventing Championship
  • Riding Results

A great result for the team today at the NSEA Eventing Championship at Moreton in Dorset; Stonar teams had qualified for this event at ISODE last May. Sadly, several riders had to withdraw reducing us from three teams to one; however, the remaining team of Alicia D, Rose D, Rachel N and Penny S more than made up for the shortfall with their performance.

The show started on Friday - dressage day. All put up a great mark on the scoreboard with Penny leading overnight.

Saturday was cross country day - but in addition to their XC round, riders were required to first complete the Roads and Tracks, and Steeplechase sections (as per the old 'long format' Eventing). All went clear though a smattering of time faults dropped us slightly down the order.

Sunday was the final day of showjumping but first all horses and rider had to present for the trot up - as required for international events. The team put their smartest outfits on as there was a prize for 'best dressed', and the horses were prepared beautifully.

With less than one jump's worth of penalties between the top three teams it was all to play for in the showjumping - all four of our riders stepped up under pressure and left every fence standing. Sadly though, so did the two teams ahead of us! Still, a very respectable Team 3rd for Stonar, a brilliant achievement as this was their first time doing a competition of this kind.

Thank you to parents, Liza, and to Mrs Rabbitt and Miss Stone for all their support over the weekend.
