The ISCis (Independent Schools Council information service) web site is the official site for the 1,300 UK schools accredited by the Independent Schools Council.
The Independent Schools Council (formed in 1974 as the Independent Schools Joint Council) provides a single, unified organisation to speak and act on behalf of the eight independent schools' associations which constitute it. ISC promotes the schools' common interests at the political level by making representations to government ministers, politicians of all parties and civil servants. Its governing council includes representatives of the associations.
The Girls' Schools Association represents over 200 leading independent schools for girls in the UK and overseas, educating approximately 110,000 girls. GSA is the principal voice for the promotion of single sex education for girls, and is a non-profit organisation.
