University & Careers

Stonar’s Careers Centre is run by Mr Anthony Curtis, Head of Careers, supported by highly experienced teaching staff.

The Centre provides access for pupils throughout the Senior School to a comprehensive range of on-line careers and higher education guides. This includes over 200 resources covering a wealth of up to date career opportunities, E-clips on-line (careers advice to Year 10-13 pupils); KUDOS (all Year 11 pupils) and ISCO (the Independent School Careers Organisation) for all Year 10-13 pupils.

In addition to the PCs in the Careers Office, our resources can also be accessed on-line and in the Student Resources area of the School intranet. An extensive programme of Careers Talks with guest speakers is followed throughout the year.

Senior School General Careers Programme:

Advice and guidance on A-level subject choices and University course selection

Advice and guidance on GCSE and A-level subject choices is offered from Year 9 upwards to all pupils, both as an integral part of the tutor programme and through one to one meetings with personal tutors.  In addition, a programme of careers talks are provided by expert speakers in their chosen field, covering a wide range of career pathways, and pupils are able to discuss their career plans with speakers after all events.

Our pupils progress to their first choice among excellent universities and popular courses of study. They choose a surprisingly wide range of destinations because they are confident about the course they want and they have developed a genuine interest in their studies.
