Students celebrate increase in A*-A Grades

A Level students achieved an excellent 29.2% of passes at A* and A grades - up 6% on last year's results and ahead of the national average, and 47.9% at A* to B grades.

Caitlin Etherton achieved 2 A* grades and an A in Geography, ICT and Psychology and will now be moving on to Queen's University, Belfast to study Geography.

Congratulations to Alice Sheppard, with 3 A grades in Maths, Physics and Chemistry which will be taking her to the University of Bristol.

Head girl, Issy Collins is destined for the University of Manchester to study International Management and American Business Studies after achieving an A* A and a B.

Natasha Webster, who was awarded 2 As and a B, will be going to the University of Bath to study Modern Languages and European Studies.

Other pupils were delighted to gain places on a diverse range of courses including Equine and Veterinary Bioscience, Criminology and Criminal Justice, and Midwifery.

Head, Dr Sally Divall said, "My congratulations go to all our pupils who have worked hard and been rewarded with a great set of results. With high grades dropping nationally in 13 key subjects, we're pleased to have seen a notable increase in our A*-B grades. As ever, Stonar's sixth formers choose a diverse range of subjects and career paths and we are delighted to see them moving forward to fulfil their ambitions."

With 10.4% of the grades across all subjects at Stonar awarded A* grade (2% above the national average) it's easy to forget that Stonar admits pupils with a wide range of academic ability.

"Our staff develop excellent relationships with pupils and go the extra mile to stretch and challenge them so they can really find out what they can do," said Sally Divall. "This personal approach enables pupils make fantastic progress and we are very proud of their achievements."
