High achievers celebrated at Academic Awards Evening

Parents, pupils and staff came together over an evening of drinks and canapés to celebrate Stonar's academic successes, with pupils across the Senior School receiving commendations for excellence.

Dr Sally Divall, Head, said, "The Academic Awards recognise the hard work, commitment and achievements of our pupils. As well as recognising attainment, we also reward progress, where pupils have applied themselves to make outstanding gains in their work. At Stonar, we pride ourselves in getting the very best from pupils and the Academic Awards Evening is a lovely opportunity for us to celebrate some of the impressive achievements from the last year."

Matilda James, Casting Director at the Globe Theatre, gave a warm and entertaining keynote speech, describing her career journey, beginning with her 15 year old self hearing an inspirational talk at school and realising that she wanted to find that passion in life for herself. Her enviable career, which has taken her from Cambridge University to the BBC, and then on to the Globe, she attributes to keeping an open mind and being brave enough to take various opportunities that have come her way. She described how she has been fortunate to be surrounded by passionate and inspirational people and has drawn drive and purpose from them throughout.

Dr Divall added, "We would like to pass our thanks on to Matilda, who gave a very inspiring and relevant, not to mention entertaining, speech which resonated with all.
