Anything Goes

Stonar took to the stage for the lively Senior School production of Anything Goes.

The exuberant, frothy plot, peppered with great songs from Cole Porter's irresistible score, swept the audience along with a toe-tapping, feel-good factor.

The Stonar cast effectively conjured up life aboard the swanky ocean liner, the SS America, and the comic entanglements of crossed romance the characters face.

Poised, and with a deft comic touch, Sophie Drew portrays Reno Sweeney beautifully and Alice Sheppard gives an energetic performance as the lovelorn Billy Crocker.

The script is abuzz with comedy, and the cast make the most of it. Olivia Anniss and Lucia Velasco provide a great comic coupling as Moonface Martin and Erma. Poppy Blokland as Lord Evelyn Oakley delivers some hilarious moments as the upper class English twit, bumbling through American phrases.

The music is a highlight, with cracking solo performances and group numbers alike.

Another set of stunning performances from all involved; clearly a great deal of work has gone in to making this production a success and it has certainly paid off.
