Ponies at School for Prep Riders

From September 2014 Prep pupils in Years 5 and 6 will be able to bring their own pony to Stonar.

For Prep riders in Years 5 and 6 who do not own a pony it will be possible to loan a school pony to have as their ‘own’.

Stonar’s unique Equestrian Centre offers a diverse riding experience which is both fun and educational, supporting the development of both recreational and aspiring riders. Coaching sessions are centred on gaining basic skills and on forming a firm foundation which will enable the rider to progress confidently and with correct knowledge.

As riders develop are assessed at each stage against the Pony Club Standards of Efficiency Tests. This benchmarking will ensure that pupils are offered a clear pathway to improvement.

Also new for September 2014:

More riding lessons for Prep pupils
Prep School riders will be able to have daily riding lessons. Groups will be a maximum of four riders allowing the coaching and lessons to be more individually focused. Individual tuition will also be available alongside group learning.

Outdoor Riding Experience
A specially designed riding track which is routed around the perimeter of the school site has been constructed. The track will offer riders the opportunity to hack and experience riding across the country. Also, a Prep School field has been developed for the sole use of Prep riders. The site will include small cross-country fences, a dressage arena and show jumps. Both the riding track and riding field will be incorporated for use during coaching sessions.
