Stonar Equestrian

Stonar has a British Horse Society approved Equestrian Centre. Riding has been a core feature of the school for several decades. The outstanding facilities include first class indoor and outdoor schools, stabling for 65 horses and a cross country schooling field with a wide variety of different fences.

Whether pupils are complete beginners, wanting to ride for fun or are already riding competitively, our equestrian education will continue their riding development. Riders can bring their own horse or pony to school. It is also possible for riders to loan one of Stonar's horses or ponies*. Alternatively, pupils can simply book a weekly riding lesson.

A programme of specialist clinics delivered by leaders in their disciplines is offered to all riders. There are regular opportunities to compete both at school and externally. School teams are frequently succesful at NSEA competitions and Stonar's own Inter Schools One Day Event Championships.

Stonar is also an official Pony Club Centre, riders can work towards Pony Club attainment tests. From the age of 14 riders can study for the British Horse Society Assistant Instructor qualification. EQLs in Horse Care and Management and the UKCC are available in our Sixth Form.

*The loan of a Stonar horse or pony is available to pupils who are joining Stonar for two terms or more.
