International Pupils (ages 8-18)

Pupils for whom English is a second language and who wish to join Stonar for one year or longer, will be required to take an EAL examination plus an appropriate Maths paper. They will also need to provide a current school report. All pupils will have an interview with our Head of EAL by Skype to assess their level of spoken English.

When it is not possible to meet applicants from overseas, the school relies on the judgement of partner agents who interview the pupils and recommend them to us. Where an agency is not used, overseas applicants are required to follow the standard UK admissions procedure. Pupils represented by an agent will usually sit our entrance papers and an EAL paper prior to arriving at Stonar.

You are welcome to visit Stonar at any time of the year for an individual tour and to meet the Head. The Registrar handles all admissions enquiries and will be happy to organise your visit. There are a number of Open and Taster events during the year which provide opportunities for prospective pupils and parents to experience the school in action and also to meet staff and current pupils.

International pupils may join Stonar for short stays. This can be half a term (6 weeks), one or two terms. The half-term option is particularly popular from the beginning of June. No entrance tests are required for short-stay pupils but a school report is required. The pupils will join the normal school programme which will include EAL sessions.
